GUWAHATI:
The Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA), on March 7, issued a notification stating that it would conduct the theory examination of High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) using the question papers and answer booklets printed in 2021.
With just a week left for the examination, scheduled from March 15 to April 7, the Board has taken the decision to “avoid misuse of natural resources”. In 2021, the HSLC and Assam High Madrassa (AHM) were not conducted, with results being declared on the basis of the past academic records of students.
“Since the SEBA did not conduct these exams in the manner during the pre-Covid-19 period, question papers and answer booklets prepared in 2021, they remained unutilised. Therefore, we will use them this year to avoid misuse of natural resources,” the notification emphasised.
The notification also maintained that the question papers were not prepared based on a syllabus that is strictly following the 2022 syllabus.
Notably, the SEBA had reduced the syllabus by 30 per cent due to the second wave of the pandemic. This year, the Board has gone for 40 per cent cuts in the syllabus.
