Seminar on NEP concludes

The seminar focused on the Indian knowledge system with special reference to the Northeastern region being a storehouse of traditional knowledge systems and aimed to highlight the knowledge system of NE among the different ethnic communities.

Mahatma Gandhi University organised a one-day national seminar on the topic ‘NEP 2020 with reference to Indian Knowledge System in Northeast India’ on Saturday.

The seminar focused on the Indian knowledge system with special reference to the Northeastern region being a storehouse of traditional knowledge systems and aimed to highlight the knowledge system of NE among the different ethnic communities.

The programme was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by resource persons, Dr. Arup Bordoloi, director of Sangeet Natak Academy, NE, and Matipur Rahman, CEO, Scordemy, in the presence of Dr. Sagar O Manjhre, vice-chancellor of MGU, Dr. Sarika Dixit, registrar and all staff members of the university. The guests of honour were also then felicitated.

Dr. Dinesh Baishya, dean of Academics, at MGU, enlightened the paper presenters and participants with his innumerable information and experiences in the field of the knowledge system of India with special reference to Northeastern region through his key note address.

He talked about the rich heritage of ancient eternal knowledge of the Indian civilsation which is the guiding light for the NEP 2020.

The resource persons too deliberated and shared their thoughts on NEP and the significance of the NE knowledge system in incorporating it into the policy for enhancement of experiential knowledge in attaining its current form, based on practical experiences with its surrounding through trial and error.

They tried to encourage the students to have a broader outlook towards the development of the knowledge system through NEP 2020 policies.

By showing the gateway of opportunities to future generations’ education level and career, the recourse persons also encouraged all to utilize their knowledge and skills to build a better tomorrow.

MGU vice-chancellor also spoke on occasion about the achievements of the university and future growth of the same for the benefit of the students of the Northeastern region.

The day was made more vibrant with various topics shared by the paper presenters. The day finally concluded with a valedictory session.
