Snubbed by NPP, Mominin advises CM

Asked if he is confident of winning the Phulbari seat in 2023, Mominin said that he has worked for the development of the constituency and was sure that he will retain his seat with the support of the people.

SHILLONG:

Having defected from National People’s Party (NPP) to Trinamool Congress (TMC), SG Esmatur Mominin said that Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma should work hard if he has to retain his South Tura seat.

Speaking to reporters on January 5, Mominin said, “He will have to work hard if he wants to retain the seat,” when asked about South Tura seat.

The Phulbari MLA said he is still in the dark as to why he was denied the NPP ticket, adding that he was not happy with the chief minister and his party.

Asked if he is confident of winning the Phulbari seat in 2023, Mominin said that he has worked for the development of the constituency and was sure that he will retain his seat with the support of the people.

As for the prospect of the NPP, Mominin said, “In this election 2023, TMC will be the largest single party in Garo Hills. Maybe NPP should be satisfied with four-five seats.”

Unhappy over the border deal with Assam, he claimed that the chief minister does not care for the emotions and sentiments of the people of the state, especially the Garo community.

“I am very unhappy with the border issues and this is one of the reasons why I did not try for the ticket and joined the TMC instead,” Mominin said.
