SHILLONG:
A few days after the National People’s Party (NPP) candidate from Mawkynrew constituency, Kansing Lynshiang claimed that chemical fertilisers are available at MECOFED at Mawlai Mawiong, farmers from various places went to this office looking for it.
However, to their disappointment the farmers could not find the chemical fertilisers as claimed by the aspiring candidate.
The farmers along with members of the Hill Farmers Union who came to MECOFED to buy the fertilisers were from Umsning, Mylliem, Laitkyrhong.
Manshwaki Pohshna Fertiliser in-charge clarified that the state was awaiting for their share of the chemical fertilisers from the Government of India.
It was also informed that after the share of fertilisers to the state is released for the farmers, the licenced retailers will procure them through MECOFED and sell it to the farmers.
