State on path to eliminate malaria by 2027

The Deputy Director of Health Services (M) cum State Programme Officer, (NCVBDC), Meghalaya informed that World Malaria Day 2023 is an opportunity to synergize efforts to mobilise resources and actions to beat malaria by covering the last mile to reach the most vulnerable people across the state.

SHILLONG:

Meghalaya along with the rest of the country has embarked upon the mission of eliminating malaria from the country by 2027 and sustaining zero indigenous cases by 2030.

The Deputy Director of Health Services (M) cum State Programme Officer, (NCVBDC), Meghalaya informed that World Malaria Day 2023 is an opportunity to synergize efforts to mobilise resources and actions to beat malaria by covering the last mile to reach the most vulnerable people across the state.

In a statement issued here, the official informed that the World Malaria Day (WMD) is observed every year on April 25 across the world to raise awareness and intensify the efforts towards reaching the goal of malaria elimination.

The theme of this year’s World Malaria Day is “Time to deliver zero malaria: invest, innovate, implement.”

The performance of all health systems and their adaptability to new opportunities, interventions are two of the key determinants of the rate of progress along the path towards elimination of this dreaded disease.

Meghalaya has drastically reduced Malaria morbidity and mortality over the years and continues to move on the path of malaria elimination.

The official has urged the citizens to join hands and pledge towards achieving the goal of Malaria elimination in the state by 2030 along with the rest of the country.
