Swaraj: Bharat Ke Swatantrata Sangram Ki Samagra Gatha serial in Assamese soon

The serial will highlight the contribution of the freedom fighters and unsung heroes of the freedom struggle.

GUWAHATI:

Doordarshan Kendra (DDK) Guwahati will telecast the serial ‘Swaraj – Bharat Ke Swatantrata Sangram Ki Samagra Gatha’ in the Assamese language from August 20.

Director General, North East Zone, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, B Narayanan, made the disclosure while speaking to the press at Doordarshan Kendra Guwahati on August 18.

Narayanan said that the 75-episode serial will be telecast on DD Assam at 9 pm every Saturday, repeated on Sunday from 9 pm to 10 pm, and telecast on Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. He also informed that the serial will be broadcast on All India Radio at 11 am every Saturday, and other than Assamese, the serial will be dubbed in eight other regional languages – Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali and Odia.

Talking about the ideas behind the show, Narayanan said that the serial will highlight the contribution of the freedom fighters and unsung heroes of the freedom struggle which will help to pass knowledge interestingly.

“This will also help to revitalize Doordarshan and recapture the audience,” he stated.

He asserted that the series will enable future generations to know the history of the freedom struggle and march forward with the inspiration from those stories.

Narayanan also informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the special screening of the TV show ‘Swaraj – Bharat Ke Swatantrata Sangram Ki Samagra Gatha’ on Wednesday in Delhi.

The serial had been launched on August 5 at a function at Akashwani Bhavan by Union minister for home and cooperation Amit Shah in the presence of Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Singh Thakur, and Union minister of state for Information and Broadcasting, Dr L Murugan.

The broadcast of the serial began on August 14 in Hindi on DD National. Every fresh episode of Swaraj will be aired from 9 pm to 10 pm on Sunday on DD National and it will be repeated on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

The idea behind the serial is to reproduce an audio-visual history of India’s search for ‘Swaraj’. The repertoire of photographs, films, oral histories, personal memoirs, autobiographies, biographies, and multi-lingual regional literature remains mostly unexplored and largely absent from the public consciousness. The serial being presented in a docu-drama format has been researched well by a team of leading historians.
