Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Prestone Tynsong, On March 21, informed that Ri Bhoi police today morning arrested two people in connection with the murder of a 70-year-old man at Paham Mawlein in 20th Mile in Ri Bhoi district on March 9.
Tynsong was replying to a Zero Hour notice raised by Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem on the second day of the budget session on the murder of one Elius Ryndong, who was found with grievous head injuries at a field belonging to the family near a football ground at 20th Mile Paham Mawlein village on March 9.
According to Tynsong, police received the information on March 9 around 5.20 pm about a body being found at a field; on reaching the spot, police found Ryndong lying with grievous injuries on his head. “The next day, police received an FIR from R Suting, the daughter of the deceased. According to the daughter, her father left home in the morning for work in his farm but did not return home. It was only later that they received calls about a body being found at a field, suspected to be her father,” Tynsong told the House.
“A criminal case was registered and investigation is ongoing. This morning, police have arrested two suspects related to this case. In this incident, I assure the members of the House that the police force is on the job and investigation is on and I want to assure you that once investigation is completed, we will be able to take action,” the Home Minister said.
