Two Covid deaths in Tura

TURA:

Covid cases are rising by the day across Garo Hills and also taking lives even as people drop their guard discarding face masks and social distancing while the Omicron variant is spreading at record speed. A 68-year- old woman in Tura became the latest victim to lose her life to Covid. A patient suffering from comorbid complications, she passed away on Sunday while undergoing treatment at Tura Civil Hospital.

Her death comes two days after a middle aged man suffering from Covid and hailing from Nakham Bazaar area of Tura passed away while undergoing treatment at the same hospital. He was suffering from liver complications.

The pace at which the disease is spreading can be gauged from the number of infections rising each day.

Doctors and nurses are also suffering from the latest Covid wave as they go about discharging their medical duties.

On Sunday as many as five doctors from Tura Civil Hospital tested positive for Covid.
One of the doctors who has had to halt duty and go into isolation conducts tests in the crucial department of sonography (USG) at Tura Civil Hospital.

There is  more worry for medics about a possible spike given that several thousand people are violating Covid protocols, rubbing shoulders and witnessing the ongoing day and night cricket tournament at Tura police parade ground. The grand finale on Sunday night witnessed record turnout of people for the tournament.
