GUWAHATI:
The Assam Police on August 18 night apprehended two fraudsters posing as officers of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from Karimganj district.
Identified as Diluyar Hussain and Rashid Ahmed, the two were arrested after a complaint was filed against them.
According to sources, the duo had identified themselves as CBI officers to the complainant over the phone and demanded Rs 2 lakh from him.
The complainant then informed the authorities about it, after which police swung into action and arrested the accused persons.
While Hussain was nabbed from Ratabari area, Ahmed was arrested from Patharkandi town of the district.A case has been registered against the two under relevant sections, and further investigation is on.
