Stating that the sympathy wave will be an advantage for the party, UDP president Metbah Lyngdoh, on March 3, exuded confidence of winning the Sohiong seat.

SHILLONG:

The United Democratic Party (UDP) is banking on the sympathy wave to win Sohiong assembly seat, of which polling was adjourned due to the sudden demise of party candidate and veteran politician HDR Lyngdoh.

Stating that the sympathy wave will be an advantage for the party, UDP president Metbah Lyngdoh, on March 3, exuded confidence of winning the Sohiong seat, adding that as per ground level inputs, “things are going in favour of the party’s candidate.”

“This time we will ensure that we are back with the UDP to ensure and show our gratefulness to late HDR Lyngdoh because of his contribution to the constituency and even to them as a family during those years when he was the MLA of Sohiong,” Lyngdoh added.

It may be mentioned that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has set May 10 as the date for the Sohiong polls and counting will be held on 13.
