SHILLONG:

President of United Democratic Party (UDP) Metbah Lyngdoh on January 9 informed that the party will come out with another list which has the names of five sitting MLAs as well as the candidates for the remaining constituencies.

Speaking at a gathering to announce the second list, he said, “The people of the state are looking to the UDP to address the issues and concerns for the welfare of the state.”

Stating that the people regard the UDP as being the biggest regional party in the state, he said that it is committed to delivering the expectations of the people if they are voted to power.

He added that the party is working hard to reach out to every nook and corner of the state and to create awareness among the electorate.

“We will try to reach all of them to create awareness among the electorate to ensure that this time, they make no mistake and be with the UDP in the upcoming election,” Lyngdoh said.

The UDP has announced 32 candidates in the first list.

Speaking to reporters later, Lyngdoh said, “If people feel that they are not happy under the leadership of the NPP, UDP is here.”

He said that they are going to the elections on their own and tie up with any party and has urged the people to allow the UDP.

Commenting on the allegations of misusing government schemes ahead of the elections, Lyngdoh said, “Before elections everyone is doing this but I do not see that it will benefit anyone, at the end of the day, people will decide, if these kinds of benefits are coming before the elections.”
