SOHIONG:
Voting to the Sohiong assembly constituency started at 7 am at all polling stations on May 10.
Voters could be seen queuing up at different polling stations, waiting for their turn to exercise their franchise.
Voting in Sohiong was postponed following the demise of former MLA and UDP candidate HDR Lyngdoh on February 20.
Polling will continue till 4 pm today. 34,783 voters of which 17,096 are males and 17687 are females – will exercise their franchise across 63 polling stations, to elect their new representative.
Six candidates are in the fray for the Sohiong seat. These include — Synshar Lyngdoh Thabah of the United Democratic Party (UDP), Samlin Malngiang of the National People’s Party (NPP), S Osborne Kharjana of Congress, Sandondor Ryntathiang of the Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP), Sereph E Kharbuki of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Stodingstar Thabah of Trinamool Congress (TMC).
Counting will be held on May 13.
