SHILLONG:
Voice of the People Party (VPP) Nongstoin, on May 23, staged a protest in front of the residence of the local Congress MLA Gabriel Wahlang at Pyndengrei in West Khasi Hills as a show of support to the party chief Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit in his indefinite hunger strike that started from today.
With placards in their hands, members of the VPP Nongstoin protested against the local MLA for being a mute spectator on the reservation policy.
Speaking to media persons, VPP Nongstoin Joint Secretary Davis Franky Wahlang said this protest was to force the local MLA to speak on the issue that concerns the youth of the state.
He further informed that this is only the first phase of their agitation; in the coming day, they will intensify their agitation till word reaches the government’s ears, forcing it to review the reservation policy.
