VPP slams MDA govt for wasting money on consultants from outside

Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit also said that the counsultants are appointed to high posts and given big salaries, even as the government claims not to have money.

NONGSTOIN:

Voice of the People Party (VPP) president Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit on February 22 criticised the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government for wasting money on consultants from outside the state.

Basaiawmoit, who visited Nongstoin to garner support for party candidate Bobby Kharshandi, also said that the consultants are appointed to high posts and given big salaries, even as the government claims not to have money.

“The government has money to pay the consultants from outside the state, but sad to see that they don’t have money to create job opportunities for the youth, to pay the teachers and ASHA workers, etc.,” he said while addressing a rally.

He also said that Meghalaya is one of the poorest states from among other states because of rampant corruption, and the government does not dare to admit that its pockets are empty and that they are running the state with a loan.

In conclusion, he said that the VPP was established with a goal for the next 50 years rather than a single day, and that the meeting was conducted to discuss how to leave a lasting impression on the generations to come. He added if the VPP is voted to power, they would clean up all the corruption and strengthen the finance department of the government.

Ahead of the meeting, VPP leaders and supporters had taken out a rally from the main Nongstoin and it culminated at the market complex.
