VPP to stage sit-in on May 17

VPP spokesperson Batskhem Myrboh said that the party took this decision due to the adamant attitude and non-response of the National People’s Party (NPP) led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) 2.0 government to the demand of the party.

SHILLONG:

The Voice of the People Party (VPP) will be holding a sit-in demonstration on May 17 on the need to put on hold all recruitment processes in the state till the state job reservation policy and the implementation of the roster system is reviewed by an expert committee.

VPP spokesperson Batskhem Myrboh said that the party took this decision due to the adamant attitude and non-response of the National People’s Party (NPP) led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) 2.0 government to the demand of the party.

Myrboh said that the party will organise the sit-in at the parking lot near the Additional Secretariat from 10 am to 4 pm.

The VPP has urged party workers and the public to participate in the protest to put pressure on the NPP led government.

“It may be noted that this government is trying to make itself immune to logic, fairness and public concerns,” the VPP spokesperson said.

Myrboh also said that other programmes will be subsequently announced.
