MEGHALAYA:
The court of the Special Judge, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO), West Khasi Hills district, Nongstoiñ, on April 18, convicted one accused Blansius Nongsiej for murdering a minor girl on March 31, 2019, at Umwar Umyïap village, West Khasi Hills, vide judgement order dated April 18 and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for life with a fine of Rs 50,000 under section 302 IPC, 30 years rigorous imprisonment with fine of Rs 20,000under section 6 POCSO Act and, in default of payment of fine, shall undergo six months simple imprisonment.
The matter was reported to Nongstoiñ Police Station where a case was registered vide Nongstoiñ PS Case Number 33 (04)2019 under section 302 IPC r/w section 5(i)(l)(m)/6 of POCSO Act.
Nongsiej was arrested immediately by the police officers, following which a thorough investigation was executed.
