UMSNING:

The “Catch Them Young” Sports Tournament, organised by the Village Health Council group from Ladmawrong, successfully concluded today. The event featured 100-metre and 60-metre Marathon Races for children under 16 years of age. R Kharkrang, Chairman of Umsaitsning Dorbar Pyllun, presided over the closing ceremony, alongside VHC Chairman Frankie Nongrum, VHC members, and other attendees.

Young participants between the age group of 12-16, from different parts of the Umsning area, took part in the sports tournament. The primary objective was to instill a sense of physical activity among children. The organisers rewarded the first-place winner with a bicycle and provided prize money to those who secured the second and third positions.

Highlighting the tournament’s purpose, VHC Chairman emphasised the significance of involving children in sports from an early age. This approach aims to steer them clear of negative influences while promoting their physical well-being.

The initiative also serves to shield children from harmful elements like drugs and alcohol. He also extended appreciation to Dr Sohkhia, the head of Umsning CHC, for the unwavering support provided to the group’s diverse programs.
