20,000 registrations for Trinamool Congress ‘WE Card’ in 72 hours

The flagship scheme was announced by Meghalaya TMC assures a guaranteed income support of Rs 1000 every month (12,000 annually) to one woman in each household in the state.  

SHILLONG:

The Trinamool Congress ‘WE Card’ has hit more than 20,000 registrations in the state in 72 hours.

A statement from the party informed that the WE Card or the Meghalaya Financial Inclusion for Women Empowerment Scheme (MFI WE) is receiving ‘phenomenal’ response across the state.

The flagship scheme was announced by Meghalaya TMC assures a guaranteed income support of Rs 1000 every month (12,000 annually) to one woman in each household in the state.

The scheme is universal and aims to benefit each of the 5.5 lakh households across the state irrespective of religion, caste, class, or income bracket.

The TMC stated that the scheme has been curated keeping in mind the heavy losses that the state economy suffered due to the pandemic, alongside misgovernance and several scams perpetrated by the current NPP-led MDA government.

On the other hand, TMC MLA George B Lyngdoh inaugurated the Dorbar hall in Umktieh, Ri Bhoi under the Umsning Subdivision.

The project has been sanctioned under the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund with a financial allotment amounting to Rs 2,50,000 in 2021-22.

With the winter season in the state, the MLA also distributed shawls among the locals of Umktieh. C.L Masharing, vice-president, Umroi block, Meghalaya TMC was also present at the event.

While addressing the public, the MLA said, “We had the opportunity to inaugurate the Umktieh Village Council, which will be used by the people now and in the future as well. The sub-center in Umktieh has been successful. I am hopeful that in the coming year we will have a new PHC in Umiam.”
