GUWAHATI
Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio, on January 24, informed that a delegation from Assam and Nagaland will meet union home minister Amit Shah in February for an out-of-the-court settlement of the long-pending inter-state boundary dispute between both the states.
The development comes a day after a select committee from Nagaland comprising Rio, Deputy CM Y Patton met Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati on January 23. to jointly take up the matter to formulate a resolution on the issue.
“We had gone to Guwahati and had fruitful discussions on the issue with Sarma. Our teams will meet Shah in the first week of February to discuss and formulate how to go about finding a solution to the row,” Rio told the press.
During the meeting, both states also discussed the royalty on petroleum and natural gas along the Assam-Nagaland border.
The meeting with Shah in February will be the second one after December 23, 2020 when both the states had met to discuss the issue.
