BJP refutes Cong’s allegations of party running govt in Meghalaya

Reacting to Congress' allegations that BJP was equally responsible for the scams and corruption committed by the MDA government, Ernest Mawrie said, "the Chief Minister and all the Ministers were from their side. We always said that we have zero tolerance against corruption."

SHILLONG:

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Ernest Mawrie, on January 19, claimed that although his party is part of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA), it was not running the government.

Reacting to Congress’ allegations that BJP was equally responsible for the scams and corruption committed by the MDA government, Mawrie said, “the Chief Minister and all the Ministers were from their side. We always said that we have zero tolerance against corruption.”

He also reiterated that the decision to pull out from the government is in the central BJP leaders’ court and, the issue has been discussed with them on several occasions.

Mawrie pointed out that the NPP is an ally of the BJP not only in Meghalaya but even in the National Democratic Alliance at the centre.
