Mairang:
Congress candidate for North Shillong constituency, John Anthony Lyngdoh, has claimed that the party will win around seven to eight seats in Garo Hills in the assembly election slated on February 27.
Speaking at an election campaign for Mairang Congress candidate, Batskhem Ryntathiang, at Tirot Sing Memorial Hall in West Khasi Hills district, Lyngdoh said the large crowd who came to the meeting was eager to listen to the party’s ideology.
He claimed that the Congress will win three seats from Jaintia Hills because the people are fed up with the NPP-led MDA government due to Mukroh incident. He added that all those who left their parties and joined the NPP will be defeated in the upcoming elections.
Lyngdoh also informed the gathering that the NPP did not set up its candidate for Mairang assembly constituency because it wanted the Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly and UDP president Metbal Lyngdoh to win in this election.
