A mass awareness program on drug abuse, cybercrime and use of stolen two-wheelers and tobacco products was organised by the Dirang Employees Welfare Society (DEWS) at Dirang in Arunachal’s West Kameng district, on July 2.
Secretary-general of DEWS, Tashi Sermupa, unveiled the objective of the awareness program and informed that a committee of Nasha Mukth Dirang was forged which is comprised of members from Dirang administration, DEWS, MMT, police, students’ union, and panchayat members to create intensive awareness and formulate regulations to curb drug menace in Dirang Sub-division.
Speaking on the occasion, Phurpa Tsering advisor PWD, Western Zone called for a disciplined and united effort from parents, panchayat members, and all stakeholders to fight the menace of drug abuse.
East Kameng superintendent of police Rahul Gupta, West Kameng Zilla Parishad Chairperson Rinchin Zomba and President Monpa Mimang Tsogpa among others were present at the event.
