Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh, on June 19, said that the government has issued health advisories on consumption of meat after the state reported Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) cattle.
Briefing media persons, Lyngdoh said, “The duty of the government is to take the advisory of the various line departments over certain diseases in cattle, and thus the government has put a cap on consumption of meat of certain animals at such times.”
Lyngdoh said that the advisory has been issued in public interest, keeping them well informed on the disease reported on cattle.
“In the matter of fish, we have seen that the test was done, and the advisory is that we should ensure that consumption of fish should be done keeping all health advisories in mind,” she said.
She said that the government is bound by duty to inform the public that these are the advisories being received from the line departments, and the public are cautioned on consuming such foods.
