HANM threatens to move court over Jowai bypass repair

In a statement, the HNAM said they had conducted an inspection on Jowai bypass and found that the quality of repair work is abysmally poor.

SHILLONG:

The Jaintia Hills unit of the Hynniewtrep Achik National Movement (HANM) on June 11 threatened to seek the court’s intervention for the alleged substandard repair of Jowai bypass in West Jaintia Hills district.

In a statement, the HNAM said they had conducted an inspection on Jowai bypass and found that the quality of repair work is abysmally poor.

“The road, which was repaired two-three days ago, is now damaged again and this is a total wastage of public fund,” said HANM president Shaniah Suchen.

“Therefore, we demand that the state government immediately direct the contractor to reconstruct the road,” Suchen added.

He also warned, “If the government fails, we will be compelled to approach the Meghalaya High Court to ensure that action is taken against such wastage of public money.”
