Hek admits that ‘anti-Christian’ tag impacted BJP’s prospect in Meghalaya

SHILLONG:
Cabinet Minister and BJP legislator AL Hek, on April 3, attributed the negative narrative of BJP being anti-Christians as one of the factors why the party was not able to progress beyond two seats in the recently concluded assembly election in the state.
“We are still working on how to remove this negative label given to the BJP,” Hek said, when asked about the party’s failure to move beyond two seats in the assembly polls.
“To dispel this, if you recollect, even our Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Vatican and met His Holiness Pope Francis. During his visit, the two were seen hugging each other and PM Modi even invited the Pope to come to India,” he said.
Stating that PM Modi’s visit was self-explanatory, Hek said this is one of the ways to make people understand that the BJP is not anti-Christians.
