Hek rules out rift in party

SHILLONG:

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator from Pynthorumkhrah AL Hek said that there is no rift within the party.

“Giving different statements (to the media) does not mean that there is an internal rift,” Hek said.

He said that there is a difference between an opinion and a rift.

On the statement of state unit president Ernest Mawrie that as per procedure sitting MLAs may not necessarily get the party ticket, Hek said that the decision will be taken by the central leadership of the party.

He also reiterated the statement on Mawrie made by Meghalaya in-charge of the party Chuba Ao.

“He has already made the statement. Just go through the statement and you will get to know all that is happening in the BJP in Meghalaya,” Hek said.

He said that Union ministers visiting the state are saying that central schemes are not being properly implemented by the state government after doing their own survey.

Hek also said that one can ask anyone and they will tell about corruption in the government.

He also said that post the elections in 2023 the BJP will examine with which party to have an alliance with, in the interest of the state.

“We will see who will be the best people to work with,” Hek added.

He said that the role of the party in government formation will be more important than the previous years.

However, Hek said that the formation of the government will depend on the numbers and not the party.

“Whoever gets the numbers can form the government,” he said.

The BJP legislator said that the party will play an important role in government formation since it will rule the country.

Hek said that the state will need the Centre for any kind of development.

ALL OPPONENTS STRONG

Hek said that during elections all opponents are strong contenders and none should be underestimated.

On allegations by his opponents that there is lack of development in the constituency Hek said that one can do lot of work but in the eyes of the rivals nothing has been done.

“Sitting MPs, MLAs and MDCs will be accused in the same way all over the country. That is the dialogue of the opposition and the aspiring candidates,” he said.
