SHILLONG:
The Chief Executive Member of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) Thombor Shiwat has condemned the claims made by the Deputy Commissioner of West Karbi Anglong that Khanduli falls under the jurisdiction of Assam.
Shiwat alleged that the claims made by the DC of West Karbi Anglong were unfounded because, according to him, Khanduli falls under Meghalaya as till date, the certificates are being issued by the JHADC.
West Karbi Anglong district Deputy Commissioner Krishna Baruah had earlier claimed that Khanduli village belongs to Assam on the basis of documents present with the Karbi Anglong Autonomous District Council (KAAC).
It may be mentioned that hundreds of angry residents from Khanduli, on April 15, uprooted a signboard erected by the forest department of the KAAC to set up a tax collection post at Khanduli.
