TMC slams NPP’s Samlin Malngiang for remarks against church leaders

Slamming Malngiang’s remarks, TMC candidate Stoding Thabah questioned the courage of the NPP candidate to make such a remark.

SHILLONG:

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) Sohiong constituency, on April 24, strongly criticised Samlin Malngiang, a candidate of the National People’s Party (NPP), for his remark about church leaders where he allegedly said that religious leaders are merely the ones who speak, not the ones who act.

Slamming Malngiang’s remarks, TMC candidate Stoding Thabah questioned the courage of the NPP candidate to make such a remark. Malngiang had allegedly claimed that church leaders would forget to pray if they smelt food.

Thabah said that during election campaigns, some misunderstanding and difference of opinions do arise between political parties and the church, “but he (Malngiang) does not need to use such harsh language,” he added.

Furthermore, the TMC candidate expressed confidence when speaking about the election for the Sohiong constituency, which is scheduled for May 10. He also said that the people of Sohiong are wise and ought to receive a change.
