People of Sohiong no longer needs UDP: Samlin Malngiang

Samlin Malngiang, NPP candidate from Sohiong, stated that the explanation provided by UDP president Metbah Lyngdoh that the party did not merge with the NPP but rather did so to create the government has caused people to lose trust in the party.

SHILLONG:

The people of Sohiong have claimed that United Democratic Party (UDP) has betrayed them by not having their own beliefs, and that they do not need the UDP, but rather the National People’s Party (NPP), which is leading the government.

Addressing a press conference at the party office on Monday, Samlin Malngiang, NPP candidate from Sohiong, stated that the explanation provided by UDP president Metbah Lyngdoh that the party did not merge with the NPP but rather did so to create the government has caused people to lose trust in the party.

He further stated that because the wave in Sohiong indicates that the people no longer need the UDP, Metbah Lyngdoh should clarify to the people that they are working with the NPP but cannot claim to have separate governments because they are all in it together.

Responding to CEM Titosstarwell Chyne’s assertion that if the UDP wins from Sohiong, the government will change. Samlin Malngiang went on to ask how many of them there are to even change the government?

“The people of the state have decided that the National People’s Party (NPP) will win many seats, they have chosen the party because they have seen the hard work and resilience put forth in the last five years,” Samlin Malngiang added.
