SHILLONG:
The executive committee (EC) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) on July 25 has strengthened the notification on fishing competitions in all areas under the jurisdiction of the council.
Speaking to media persons, CEM Pyniaid Sing Syiem stated that as per the notifications of the United Khasi Jaintia Hills District Fisheries Act 1954 and as per rules 29 of the Meghalaya-Assam rules 1951, has strengthen the notification to direct all organizer to obtain permission from the district council before holding fishing competitions.
“As per the latest notification of the former EC on 14 July 2023, it direct that all those who are wanting to organize fishing competition need to obtain permission from the district council and the same notification has been sent to all the deputy commissioner (DC) of all five district and the superintendent of police (SP) including the traditional head for co-operation” said Syiem.
Syiem said that with regard to the format of the application form and the fees, the district council will soon finalize for.
