SHILLONG:
The executive committee (EC) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has approved the release of pending arrears and pension for all employees of the council and former members.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the EC on Tuesday, July 25, 2023.
Chief Executive Member of the KHADC, Pyniaid Sing Syiem, said that an amount of Rs 6.5 crores will be incurred in releasing the pending arrears and pension.
“In the meeting, the EC had taken the decision to make sure that all arrears of the employees and pension of 8 former MDCs are released in the coming days,” said Syiem.
He informed that 8 former MDCs had filed a petition with the Meghalaya High Court with regard to their pending pension amounting to over Rs 24 lakhs. The court had directed the district council to clear the pending pension in the coming days.
Syiem added that since this is the last week of the month, the EC has taken a decision to release all pending arrears and pension by the month of August 2023.
