KSU asks Centre, state govt to come clean on ILP implementation

Speaking on the resolution on Inner Line Permit (ILP) passed by the state Assembly in 2019, Marngar said, “We do not know where the resolution is now. We want to send a clear message to the state government, especially the union government, to give a clear answer on the ILP, whether it is a ‘yes’ or ‘no’.

Shillong:

Khasi Students’ Union president Lambokstarwell Marngar, on Saturday said that the state government and the central government should be clear whether it is a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ when it comes to the implementation of the Inner Line Permit.

He was speaking at the oath-taking ceremony of the new KSU leaders for the term 2023-2026.

Asserting that patience will soon run out, he said, “KSU does not only speak but will show up with actions,” further adding, “This is an era of change, of trials and struggles. The danger is when the youth who are the pillars of the community are overcome by these trials.”

He observed that the government should come up with employment policy and that the education policy will be for the welfare of the state, and that there are many who love their motherland but how many are willing to sacrifice for it.

Furthermore, Marngar expressed concern that there is a decline in responsibility and conscience even though education has increased.

Speaking on the rise of drug addiction, Marngar said that there are suspicions that military forces may be using drugs and questioned as to why drugs would surface from Madanryting and Happy Valley.

“The government has to take an aggressive stand on this. The union along with dorbar shong, schools will wage war against drugs,” he said.
