The Khasi Student Union Nongpoh circle on Monday intervened in response to the recruitment process of the Office of District Medical Health Officer (DMHO), Nongpoh, regarding the interview for one post of storekeeper district warehouse and six posts of staff nurse.
Several youths who had applied for the positions expressed their dissatisfaction with the selection for interview. Two candidates were shortlisted for the posts, and they attended the interview. One of the candidates stated that she was shocked to see the names of the candidates selected for the interview, as it was published by the concerned authority. She further mentioned that the concerned authority did not provide any information or notice about the interview to the applicants. She suggested that the names of the selected candidates should have been posted on the website, but no such information was available.
She also expressed her concerns about the requirement of three years of experience in Covid, as the Covid pandemic lasted for only two and a half years. She felt disheartened by the fact that she was not given an opportunity to interview and suspected that there might be some ulterior motives behind the actions of the concerned authority.
John Lyngdoh, office secretary of KSU North Khasi Hills district met with the concerned authority and stated that the intervention was prompted by complaints from youths who were not granted an interview despite applying for the positions.
Furthermore, He highlighted that several issues were found with the organisation of the interview, and many attending youths expressed dissatisfaction. He requested the concerned authority to cancel the interview and advised that it should only proceed once it can be conducted in an organized manner, adhering to rules and regulations.
