Political parties yet to submit views on reservation policy: Ampareen

Speaking to The Meghalayan, state BJP president Ernest Mawrie said that the party has not submitted their views although the party has a draft prepared.

SHILLONG:

Political parties are yet to submit their views on reservation policy to the committee on reservation policy headed by cabinet minister Ampareen Lyngdoh.

The state Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) will convene a meeting within the party to discuss the submission of views and suggestions on the reservation policy to the state committee on reservation policy.

Speaking to The Meghalayan, state BJP president Ernest Mawrie said that the party has not submitted their views although the party has a draft prepared.

“The state party has constituted a committee on reservation policy where H.M. Shangpliang is the convener of the committee and there are three other co-conveners,” he said.

Mawrie said that the views are being prepared with some additions.

He said, “We will still discuss the matter. Once we are ready within the party, we will submit the suggestions officially.”

Meanwhile, the United Democratic Party (UDP) will submit their suggestions sometime on Tuesday or Wednesday.

The Congress MLA Ronnie Lyngdoh has already decided in a meeting that it will submit the views and suggestions to the committee on reservation policy.

It may be mentioned that the chairman of Reservation Committee Ampareen Lyngdoh, on July 5, said that the expert committee to study the Reservation Policy can be formed if the political parties submit their views and suggestions.

She had stated that a search committee cannot be formed unless the political parties submit their suggestions and understandings.
