Programme highlighting achievements of govt in edu front held

The programme highlighted the second Virtual Launch of Infrastructure Upgradation of Government Lower Primary Schools under Meghalaya School Infrastructure Upgradation Programme Phase-I.

The Education Department of the state organised a programme to highlight the achievements of the government in the education front.

The function was attended by the Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, Commissioner and Secretary of Education, Education Department, BDR Tiwari, Secretary of Education.

The minister pointed to the incremental improvement of the education scenario in the state by highlighting certain issues addressed by the government such as the approval for setting up of government colleges across the state, the improvements in PGI score, the increase of salaries of Adhoc teachers and Pre Primary teachers, the increase in honorarium of MDM cook-cum-helper and others.

Rymbui stated that in the last 5 years they have laid the foundation for improvement of the Education sector through the various initiatives undertaken, which will give momentum for future improvements.

He urged the educators to the state to effectively mobilise enrollment under NISHTHA 4.0 (under DIKSHA) a training which focuses on Early Childhood Care and Education the last date for which has been extended to 31 December 2022 and to actively participate in carrying out micro-improvements projects under VAM Meghalaya.

The programme highlighted the second Virtual Launch of Infrastructure Upgradation of Government Lower Primary Schools under Meghalaya School Infrastructure Upgradation Programme Phase-I.

The first launch was held on November 29, 2022 whereby 50 government lower primary schools were inaugurated. In total, 100 schools have been inaugurated out of the 191 schools stated for infrastructure upgradation under Phase-I.

The other highlight was the PM SHRI Schools which will help showcase the implementation of the National Education Policy, 2020 and emerge as exemplar schools over a period of time, Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman (PM POSHAN) earlier known as the National Programme of Mid-Day Meal in Schools is one of the foremost rights based Centrally Sponsored Schemes under the National Food Security Act, 2013 (NFSA), etc.
