TURA:
A ten year old school boy who was crossing the road near Williamnagar succumbed to his injuries after he was run over by a commercial vehicle on Tuesday.
The incident happened at Baija Abagre, near the tri-junction that connects Williamnagar and Songsak.
The child Mikasal D Sangma had disembarked from a Mahindra pik up and is said to have suddenly tried to cross to the other side of the road unaware of the approaching vehicle.
He was hit by a Mahindra pick up truck (ML07 A 9696) that was coming from Williamnagar and proceeding to Khera on the Songsak road.
Grievously injured, he was rushed to Williamnagar civil hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
The driver and the vehicle involved in the accident have been detained by police and a cognizable case registered.
