Seven, including one woman, held for drug trafficking in Assam’s Sonapur

In the operation, the police confiscated 10 gm heroin, two soap containers, syringes and drugs kept in small plastic containers, besides packing paper from their possession.

GUWAHATI:

The Sonapur police arrested seven persons, including a woman, from 14 Mile and Jorabat, Guwahati, for allegedly trafficking drugs, on January 30.

In the operation, the police confiscated 10 gm heroin, two soap containers, syringes and drugs kept in small plastic containers, besides packing paper from their possession.

Initially, the police team, led by ACP Sukanya Das, had arrested a peddler from 14 Mile in Sonapur and based on the information provided by the arrested peddler, the police held a woman from Jorabat.

The police said that the woman used to run a paan shop near National Highway-06 in Jorabat, and used to help the others in trafficking drugs.

Currently, they are being interrogated, and an FIR has been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the police informed.
