State govt urges HNLC to stay in peace talks amidst amnesty demands

The State government, on January 5, issued an earnest appeal to the proscribed HNLC, urging them not to withdraw from the ongoing tripartite peace talks.

Lyngdoh highlighted the urgency of the matter, revealing plans for an emergency meeting once Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong return to town.

Emphasising a commitment to addressing concerns, he assured that the HNLC’s demand for amnesty is under serious consideration and is likely to be granted.
