SHILLONG:
The State cabinet, on August 11, decided that foreign visits of any officials of the state government, including contractual staff will be limited to two visits per financial year.
In this regard, Cabinet Minister Paul Lyngdoh informed that if the same official has to undertake the second visit he should first submit a progress report of the first visit and on his ability to submit satisfactory report with tangible results then only the second visit will be cleared.
“We have also decided that the state government can sponsor only one visit and the expenses of the next visit will have to be borne either by the government of India or an external agency,” Lyngdoh told media persons.
He informed that the only exception will happen if the official is visiting a foreign country to receive an award on behalf of the government of Meghalaya.
