Tripura reaching new heights under BJP govt: CM Manik Saha

During the event, it was also decided that 75 bordering villages will be named as Kraanti Veer (Revolutionary Hero) to mark the 75th year of India's independence.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha , on August 15, highlighted the various developmental works undertaken after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government came to power in the state.

Addressing the 75th Independence Day celebrations at the Assam Rifles ground, Saha said, “The overall success and development of the state is possible only through people’s participation. The government is moving forward in the right direction with the cooperation of the public. With the blessing of Mata Tripurasundari, the government will be able to place the state on top of the development index.”

During the event, it was also decided that 75 bordering villages will be named as Kraanti Veer (Revolutionary Hero) to mark the 75th year of India’s independence.

Giving details about the various initiatives that the government is planning to take, he said that the government is working towards building the Information Technology (IT) sector in the state, including laying of high-speed internet services so that students and the general public in the rural areas can take advantage of such connectivity that will help transform the education sector as well.

“725 gram panchayats and village committees will be connected under Bharat Net to provide high-speed internet services at gram panchayat and village committee level,” he said.

The CM also announced that in order to provide IT-based tele-education, the government has decided to provide free tablets to 1000 indigenous girl students studying in standard IX and X.

He said that in a bid to increase rubber production and create employment in the rubber plantation sector, the government launched the Chief Minister Rubber Mission Scheme in 2021-22, which aims to bring 30 thousand hectares under rubber cultivation in the next 5 years.

“According to the latest index published by the NITI Aayog, Tripura is today at the forefront among other states in terms of success in various areas of development. From socio-economic development of the people to improving the standard of living, the government is working hard to make the state better across all parameters,” he said.
