NONGPOH:
Veteran United Democratic Party (UDP) leader Denis Mukhim alias Mode on January 23 joined Congress after the party refused to give him ticket for the upcoming elections.
In a programme, Mode said that he will instead extend his support to MPCC candidate from Mawhati, Charles Marngar.
Mode and his supporters were welcomed by MPCC chief Vincent H Pala in the presence of Charles Marngar and other leaders of the Congress party at Umsohlait, Ri Bhoi.
While expressing disappointment over the ticket denial, Mode said that Charles Marngar is a person who is fit to be a leader of Mawhati and he hopes that Marngar wins.
Speaking at the event, Vincent H Pala expressed his happiness and welcomed Mode along with his supporters. “This shows a solace for the Congress Party to rise in the state even though they said that the Congress party has been drown,” Pala said.
