PYNURSLA:
A minor landslide, triggered by heavy rain, hit Rngain area on June 14 around 5 am, disrupting vehicular movement along the Umtyngngar-Pynursla road.
Rngain is known as a landslide-prone area and every monsoon, landslides have become synonymous with this area.
On June 11, a minor landslide was reported at the same place, prompting local residents to rush to the scene to clear the debris.
According to the Federation of Khasi, Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) Riwar Mihngi Circle, the government should put in place a Quick Response Team and heavy machineries to address this perennial problem.
It was informed that soon after the landslide occurred, local residents — He Khongkhlad and Amos Wahlang, who each own a JCB, took out their heavy machineries to help clear the road.
